In 2005, Advocacy Network - Leeds published
Good Practice in Advocacy - The Leeds Standards.

The Standards consist of a set of expectations
relating to key themes in advocacy and a set of
ways in which groups may wish to demonstrate
how they meet those expectations.
The pack
The Good Practice in Advocacy - The Leeds Standards pack
is available free to groups within Leeds and at a small charge
to other groups, it contains;

Poster
The poster aims to provide an introduction to the key concepts in advocacy for people coming to advocacy services.
It may also be seen as an entry point to our Standards.

Leaflets
What is advocacy?
- a leaflet designed for people who may come to an advocacy service.
It gives a brief introduction into:
- what advocacy is
- how it works and
- when people make use of advocacy.
What is an advocate's role?
- a leaflet designed to clarify the role of an
advocate.
It includes information about:
- why advocates are independent
- why advocates are not impartial
- why advocates do not persuade
clients/partners to a particular
point of view and
- why advocacy is not about best interests
